COVID-19 Fear and Anxiety in Patients with Diabetes Mellitus and their Effect on HbA1c

Objective: To determine the severity of fear and anxiety COVID-19 in diabetic patients to evaluate their relationship with HbA1c. Materials methods: Between December 2020 March 2021, a total 249 were included study. Demographic characteristics, duration diabetes, glycosylated hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) values recorded. Fear related evaluated validated Turkish version COVID Scale (FCS) Coronavirus Anxiety (CAS). FCS CAS compared between group control group. The HbA1c, diabetes year, age, gender, educational status, place residence, employment status was investigated. Results: Median level HbA1c mellitus 7.65% (range 5.4-13.6) 10 years 1-32) respectively. higher (p=0.025). There no significant difference groups regarding CAS. (p=0.919, r=0.008, p=0.725, r=0.027, respectively). females than males (p=0.009). Conclusions: is general population. However, protect long-term mental health, there should be strategies detect reduce caused by pandemic services for patients.
